The
purpose of this study is to establish baseline information regarding
solid and liquid wastes management in four Irrigation General
Directorates (West Sharkia, New Zifta, Quena and Aswan), where the
concept of Integrated Water Management District will be generalized.
The study is directed towards surveying population and facilities in
various population centers within the 28 irrigation districts.
The
study has compiled and analyzed data regarding the solid and liquid
wastes management including volume distribution, disposal methods,
side effects of system pollutions, with emphasis on the
watercourses. The baseline has provided necessary data to build
necessary process and outcome indicators for follow up wastes
control with the progress of IWMDs.
